Nottingham Forest could complete five transfers before January deadline

It has already been a busy January transfer window for Nottingham Forest, but there is still plenty more to come.

When asked this week how many more new arrivals are likely during the current window, head coach Steve Cooper said: “I don’t know. I can’t put an exact number on it. We are definitely trying to do some things - we are going to need some things.

“If some of it comes off, great. If not, then I’ll continue to work with the players who are in the building every day, try to get the best out of them and help them get the best out of themselves. We’ll keep preparing for games in the way we do, and hope that’s enough when the games come around.”

There are reinforcements needed at the back first and foremost, with Chris Wood's arrival alleviating the need for a new face up front. With that in mind, below is a look at some deals Forest could do between now and January 31.

The Reds are now in the market for goalkeeping cover after Dean Henderson picked up an injury that will leave him on the sidelines for several weeks. Forest have been linked with a surprise swoop for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas , while supporters have been talking about the possibility of a return for promotion hero Brice Samba .

A centre-back is also on Steve Cooper's wish list this month. Forest have been linked with Montpellier defender Maxime Esteve and Everton's Michael Keane.

Their arrival would provide extra numbers at the back, making an exit for Loic Mbe Soh even more likely. Youngster Dale Taylor looks set to join Burton Albion, meanwhile.
