Nottingham Forest ‘considering’ transfer hijack as West Ham chase former Man Utd ace

Nottingham Forest are said to be 'considering' making an offer to former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

The 29-year-old England international is currently a free agent after his contract ended at Old Trafford. He made 231 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 35 goals and providing a further 21 assists, helping them lift the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Europa League and Community Shield.

Lingard has been linked with a return to Premier League rivals West Ham this summer. He enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Hammers two years ago, contributing to 14 goals in 16 appearances.

However, according to The Guardian, Forest are 'considering' an offer to hijack the Hammers’ move for Lingard, with the report stating David Moyes’ side have 'held further talks' with the attacking midfielder. According to the story, Lingard is close to a decision, but complications over his wage demands continue to be a problem.

Lingard has reportedly held out for £180,000 a week, with the Hammers reluctant to pay him that much. Forest and West Ham are not alone in their interest in Lingard, with Leicester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham also apparently monitoring the situation.
