Here are your Nottingham Forest headlines for Monday, May 22...
Cooper sends powerful message to fans
Head coach Steve Cooper thanked Nottingham Forest supporters for sticking with him in the tough times as Premier League survival was secured.
The Reds’ 1-0 victory over Arsenal, thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal, clinched top-flight safety with a game to spare. And it vindicated owner Evangelos Marinakis’ decision not to pull the trigger, as other sides in the relegation battle have done.
Cooper’s position has twice come under scrutiny this season, when Forest went on poor runs. But he has always retained the backing of the overwhelming majority of the fanbase.
Lodi issues emotional message to fans
Renan Lodi has shared an emotional message with fans after Nottingham Forest secured Premier Leaguesafety.
The Reds ensured they would be playing in the top flight again next season by defeating title-chasing Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground on Saturday.
And left-back Lodi, who arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid last summer, showed just what Forest's survival meant to him when he was seen crying on the pitch at full-time.
Cooper reveals key to Forest survival
Head coach Steve Cooper says he always believed Nottingham Forest would avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Reds secured survival with a game to spare as they beat Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground on Saturday. It means they avoid a nervy final day trip to Crystal Palace and can start planning for another campaign in the top-flight.
Cooper has made no secret of how tough the challenge has been. Staying up is a test for any newly-promoted side, never mind one which had been out of the division for more than two decades, had to cope with a significant injury list and made 29 signings over the course of two transfer windows.
Forest keen on keeper deal as details emerge
Nottingham Forest will reportedly attempt to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson this summer.
The 26-year-old saw his loan at the City Ground cut short after suffering a thigh muscle tear during the win over Leicester City back in January. He has been sidelined ever since and recently had surgery.
Henderson made 20 appearances under Steve Cooper, quickly becoming a popular figure among fans. And he was present on Saturday night for Forest's victory over Arsenal which saw them ensure Premier Leaguesurvival with a game to spare.
Forest's players react after top-flight secured
It was a day to remember at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest secured their Premier League status for next season.
Taiwo Awoiyi’s 19th minute goal was enough to give the Reds a 1-0 win over title-chasing Arsenal. And earn Forest all three points. Following Everton’s draw with Wolves earlier in the day, it was enough to guarantee that the Reds will be playing in the Premier League in the 2023/24 campaign.
The fight against the drop has been one full of nerves and twists and turns over the last few weeks, but the result means that Steve Cooper ’s side can watch from afar as they take on Crystal Palace in the final game of the season next weekend.
£25m transfer 'under consideration' as claim made
Atletico Madrid loanee Renan Lodi is reportedly "under consideration" for a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.
The 25-year-old left-back arrived at the City Ground on a season-long loan after falling down the pecking order at the Metropolitan Stadium and quickly cemented his place in Steve Cooper's team.
Lodi now has 27 league appearances under his belt for the Reds, who have an option to buy the Brazilian for €30m (around £25m) in the summer.
Ryan Yates sends cheeky Spurs transfer message
Nottingham Forest’s relegation-dodging, Premier League king-making exploits have been seen around the world. It’s probably no surprise, therefore, that news of the Reds’ top flight safety reached France.
Confirmation of that came from Ryan Yates’ Instagram account after the midfielder posted pictures of yesterday’s raucous celebrations at the City Ground. One, a team photo inside the changing rooms, was spotted by former Forest right back Djed Spence, who is currently on loan from Tottenham with Stade Rennais.
The Ligue 1 outfit are sixth and have three games before they can sign off and Spence has made eight appearances since his January loan transfer, although the defender’s season has been ended early by injury.
Forest boss sent Brian Clough message
Pundits have been queuing up to heap praise on Steve Cooper after the Welshman defied the odds to keep Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal ended the club’s lingering relegation fears as the team, staff and City Ground came together in a show of defiant unity.
While some relegation candidates have been tearing themselves apart, Cooper has somehow managed to engineer a spirit of unity that has made his team so formidable on home soil.
Pundit reveals ‘difference’ for survivors Forest
Former Nottingham Forest academy graduate Jermaine Jenas has hailed the organisation shown by Steve Cooper ’s men in the win over Arsenal, also praising Morgan Gibbs-White for his impact on the team.
The Reds secured Premier League safety with one game to go thanks to a 1-0 win over the second placed team at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon. Taiwo Awoniyi’s first half goal was enough to separate the two teams.
Everton’s draw with Wolves earlier in the day meant that Forest knew that a win would mean they would be playing Premier League football next season. The game also had an impact at the top of the league, with Forest’s win securing the Premier League title for Man City.
