Nottingham Forest confirm signing of goalkeeper Brice Samba from Caen

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Brice Samba from Caen, for an undisclosed fee.

The shot-stopper has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at the City Ground and becomes the Reds’ 10th summer signing - the ninth addition since Sabri Lamouchi was appointed as head coach - in what has been a busy window for the club.

And it made it two new arrivals in the past 24 hours for Forest, following full-back Carl Jenkinson agreeing a three-year contract from Premier League giants Arsenal earlier in the day.

Samba impressed for Caen last season, despite their relegation to France’s second tier, making 38 appearances between the posts.

The 25-year-old, who began his career at Marseille, had also been linked with Reds boss Lamouchi’s former team, Rennes, as well as fellow French side Montpellier.

The Reds have already signed Arijanet Muric on a season-long loan this summer, with the Manchester City keeper starting between the posts on Saturday, in Forest’s opening day defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

The club also currently have Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and Jordan Smith on their books.

Prior to Samba and Jenkinson being confirmed, the Reds had already brought in Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Yuri Ribeiro, Alfa Semedo, Albert Adomah, Rafa Mir, Samba Sow and Muric.
