Nottingham Forest coach favourite for manager job

Nottingham Forest first team coach Steven Reid is being tipped to become the new AFC Wimbledon manager.

The London outfit sacked boss Mark Robinson in March after going on a 21-game winless run. He was replaced by Mark Bowen until the end of the season, but he has ruled himself out of the running for the job permanently after the club was relegated to League Two.

Reid joined the backroom staff at Forest in October 2020 and became caretaker manager following Chris Hughton's sacking. He guided the side to their first win of this season before Steve Cooper took over on a permanent basis in September.

The ex-Republic of Ireland international, who has also coached at Reading, West Brom and with the Scottish national team, was linked to the Wimbledon job earlier this week. South London Press reported that Reid "could be in the running" for the post.

Bookmakers Bet Victor have now installed Reid as the favourite to take the job at odds of 3/1. Former Reds boss Hughton is 25/1 to be in the dugout at Plough Lane next season.
