Nottingham Forest close in on 'huge move' as Man United transfer details emerge

Nottingham Forest are closing in on their second signing of the summer transfer window as they prepare for life in the Premier League.

The Reds confirmed the signing of former Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi over the weekend with the forward arriving as a record £17million transfer. It now seems that a second signing could be on the horizon as Steve Cooper adds to his squad for the new season.

Forest have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson over the last few weeks. And it now seems that a move to the City Ground is just days away.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given the latest details on the move which will see Henderson move to the City Ground on loan. “Dean Henderson deal will be signed and announced in the next days by Man United - no issues, it has been approved by ten Hag,” he wrote on Twitter. “Loan move to Nottingham Forest until June 2023, huge move for NFFC.”

The journalist also clarified the situation about whether the move could be made permanent. “Deal won’t include any buy option clause, as reported last week,” he added.

It has been said that Forest were keen to have a buy option for next summer inserted into the deal, but that was rejected by United during the negotiations over the player. The Daily Mail also report that Henderson will have his Forest medical at the end of this week after returning from his honeymoon.

Henderson saw his game time reduce dramatically last season, failing to play a single game in the Premier League. He was included on the bench for most matches but found himself behind first choice David De Gea in the pecking order.

The goalkeeper has been targeted following the uncertainty over the future of Brice Samba. The Forest stopper has just one year remaining on his contract and is said to have refused a new deal at the City Ground.
