Nottingham Forest chairman Nicholas Randall has spoken of his delight at manager Steve Cooper extending his stay with the club.
It was announced on Friday that the manager had signed a new contract at the City Ground with the new deal running until 2025. It comes after reports that the club were considering the manager’s future, with possible replacements also mentioned.
Reports emerged not long after Monday night’s 4-0 loss against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. It was the Reds’ fifth straight loss in the Premier League and left the team at the bottom of the table.

Cooper arrived at the club just over a year ago and turned around the season in the Championship, leading Forest to promotion to the top division for the first time in 23 years. He has now been backed to turn the current season around.
Reacting to the news of the new contract, Randall said that the manager’s qualities that he brings to the role will be ‘crucial’ in securing the club’s place in the Premier League this season.
Speaking to the club he said: "We are delighted that we have agreed on terms for a new contract with Steve. His extraordinary achievements with the team last season speak for themselves as do his ability as a coach.
"But more than this, he is an influential and popular figure throughout the whole club. These qualities will be crucial as we all pull together this season with our wonderful fan base in our quest to retain Premier League status."
Forest will look to bounce back from the disappointment against Leicester when they take on Aston Villa at the City Ground on Monday night. The Reds then take on a third Midlands side in a row the following weekend when they travel to Wolves.
