Nottingham Forest 'chasing' former Chelsea goalkeeper transfer amid Dean Henderson talks

Nottingham Forest are "chasing" the signature of former Chelsea and Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, it is claimed.

The 36-year-old is available as a free agent after leaving the Toffees at the end of last season following the end of his contract. His previous clubs include Stoke City and AC Milan.

Begovic made the move to Goodison Park from Bournemouth in 2021, making just 10 appearances in two years.

And TalkSPORT claim that the Bosnian is attracting interest from Forest who are also in talks to sign Dean Henderson on a permanent deal this summer. Premier League new boys Luton Town are also claimed to be interested alongside two un-named Championship clubs.

Discussing his current status, he told talkSPORT: “Still very much a free agent! I guess it’s that time of year; lots of rumours, lots of stories, everything is going around but it’s all good fun.

“The next two weeks will become a little bit clearer. There have definitely been some conversations with certain people, certain clubs and I think in the next few weeks they’re going to heat up as June goes on into July and pre-season – we’ll see what happens.”

Asked about his hopes of being a first-choice keeper Begovic said: “I certainly still feel like I can do it. I’ve been very fortunate over my career with injuries and I work very hard to look after myself and be in good physical and mental condition so I think I can still play for a few more years as a number one.

“It’s about trying to find the right situation. It’s not about playing number one at all costs, it’s about finding the right people to work with, the right situation and hopefully having some success together.”
