Nottingham Forest catching Aston Villa in surprise Premier League transfer race

Nottingham Forest are among the favourites to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window.

Zaha has scored six goals in 13 Premier League games this season, with Palace sitting 11th in the Premier League table. His form is catching the attention of teams ahead of the January window, but links to Forest may come as something of a surprise.

The winger is in form for a club above Forest in the table, and a club who have established themselves as a solid mid-table Premier League team. That is still yet to come for Forest, though there may be more room for growth under head coach Steve Cooper.

Aston Villa are the favourites to secure Zaha's signature, with the Birmingham-based side priced at 2/1 on Sky Bet. Their new manager Unai Emery may be looking for reinforcements in the January transfer window as he looks to shape the squad he inherited from Steven Gerrard.

Forest sit just behind Villa in the odds table at 3/1. Zaha would come in to compete with Jesse Lingard, Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White for a starting place in the attacking third.

Everton and West Ham follow at 4/1, with Chelsea at 6/1 and Arsenal at 8/1. It seems likely that Zaha will be on the move this winter, though whether he will be coming to the City Ground remains to be seen.
