Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names his team to face Cardiff City

Head coach Steve Cooper makes just one change to his Nottingham Forest line-up for this afternoon’s clash with Cardiff City.

The Reds would move into the Championship’s top six for the first time this season should they return with three points from their trip to South Wales.

They go into the clash on the back of Tuesday night’s 3-0 triumph over Barnsley at the City Ground which made it three straight wins in the league, and four in a row with the FA Cup victory over Arsenal.

Goals from Keinan Davis, Ryan Yates and Brennan Johnson clinched the points against the Tykes.

And ahead of kick-off, Cooper’s men are eighth in the table, just two points below the play-off spots.

Max Lowe dropped to the bench in midweek, after making his comeback from injury in the previous game, against Derby County.

But he returns to the XI against the Bluebirds, joining Djed Spence, Steve Cook and Scott McKenna in a back four ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Jack Colback moves into his more familiar midfield role, having filled in at left-back in Lowe’s absence, and partners Ryan Yates in the centre of the pitch.

James Garner pushes forward into a more advanced role, joining Brennan Johnson and Philip Zinckernagel in supporting front man Lewis Grabban.

Davis is among the substitutes, along with Ethan Horvath, Tobias Figueiredo, Gaetan Bong, Cafu and Xande Silva.

There is also a spot on the bench for youngster Oli Hammond, who will hope to follow in the footsteps of Ateef Konate and make his league debut, just as his Under-23s teammate did in midweek.

Forest: Samba; Spence, Cook, McKenna, Lowe; Colback, Yates; Johnson, Garner, Zinckernagel; Grabban. Subs: Horvath, Figueiredo, Bong, Cafu, Silva, Hammond, Davis.
