Nottingham Forest believe they 'can beat anyone' after defeating Liverpool

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates believes the Reds "can beat anyone" after victory over Liverpool.

Yates put in a starring performance in midfield as Forest won 1-0 on Saturday lunchtime thanks to a second-half strike from Taiwo Awoniyi. Speaking after the match, the belief was flowing from academy graduate Yates.

He also revealed how Steve Cooper told the players to get a home advantage at the City Ground. They did just that, with a fantastic atmosphere throughout the afternoon pushing the side on to get three points.

"It’s what we needed. We’ve been putting in good performances and not getting the results but we thoroughly deserved it today," Yates said on BT Sport in his post-match interview.

"The manager said days like this, 12:30pm kick-offs, we have to get the fans right behind us and we did that - it’s a great day.

"We’ve got to build on this. If we can beat Liverpool, we can beat anyone."
