Nottingham Forest backed to complete huge summer transfer

Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has backed Keinan Davis to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal this summer.

The 23-year-old joined Forest on loan until the end of the season in the January transfer window.

Davis made just one first-team appearance for Villa in the current campaign coming off the bench in their 1-0 defeat at Southampton.

In total, he made 86 first-team appearances for the Premier League side scoring just three goals before joining the Reds.

But the striker has already made a instant impact during his short time in a Forest shirt having scored two goals in six appearances.

And Hutton thinks Davis could make his loan move permanent at the end of the season.

When asked whether a permanent move to the City Ground would be good for him he told Football Insider: “I think it would be. It’s not far from Birmingham. It’s not far from home, you can travel.

“They’re an exciting team now under an exciting new manager. They are going places and have really picked up recently.

“So why would you not want to be a part of that?”

The ex-Villa right-back believes Davis is unlikely to have a future at Villa Park and was sent out on loan to gain interest from other clubs so that he can be sold.

He added: “You’re in the shop window. That’s ultimately, as well, why you are going out on loan.

"Of course you want to come back to your parent club and be involved.

“But if that’s not the case, and that’s not available to you, you want to perform to show other suitors that you’re more than capable.“

Forest are next in action on Saturday at home to Stoke City.
