Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and West Ham 'checking on' £15m striker

Nottingham Forest are "checking on" their former striker Ben Brereton Diaz but are said to face competition from a number of other clubs.

Blackburn Rovers were hopeful of keeping the 23-year-old but, with clubs knocking on the door, he has rejected fresh terms at Ewood Park. He is reportedly "keen to explore opportunities elsewhere", as reported by Sky Sports.

Rovers have already apparently rejected a £10million bid from Nice, as the club hold out for offers in excess of £15m. Another serious contender is Spanish side Sevilla, who are reportedly looking to wait until January to sign the player on a free via a pre-contract agreement - as his deal expires next summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Forest face competition with the likes of West Ham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa as they are all "checking on" the player. The report also notes that Premier League sides have "baulked" at the asking price.

So far Forest have added Emmanuel Dennis, Taiwo Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White to their attacking options. Speaking about the interest in Brereton Diaz, Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson said: "I can only see the boy, as I’ve said many times, he’s laughing every day, enjoying his time here.

"He’s doing his best for Rovers, as he should do. If a club comes in, then good players cost money. I said it every third day."
