Nottingham Forest announce signing after youngster impresses with Steve Cooper's side

Nottingham Forest have signed young goalkeeper Adnan Kanuric.

The 22-year-old is understood to have been training with the Reds’ first-team and impressed enough to earn a contract. He was most recently with Bosnian side FK Sarajevo.

Kanuric is likely to get game time for Forest’s Under-21s this season at least. However, his arrival comes as academy graduate Jordan Smith, who is third-choice shot-stopper for Steve Cooper’s side, is out of contract in the summer.

Dean Henderson, too, is only tied to the Reds until the end of the campaign, as he is on loan from Manchester United. Forest also have Wayne Hennessey, who penned a two-year deal in July, and Ethan Horvath, who is currently on loan at Luton Town, on the books.

Kanuric has experience of playing in England, having spent two years at Stoke City. He left the Potters in 2020 to sign for Slovakian side ŠKF Sered.

He then moved on to FK Sarajevo, where he featured twice in the Europa Conference League qualifiers at the beginning of the 2021/22 term. Born in Austria, he holds Bosnian citizenship and has represented his country at Under-21 level.

It has been a busy summer at the City Ground for new arrivals. The Reds added 22 new faces in total, although three headed straight out on loan.

Cooper’s side are currently on a two-week international break from Premier League action. They have a friendly against Italian side Palermo planned for Friday.
