Nottingham Forest and Everton in transfer 'negotiations' for €8m France international

Nottingham Forest are said to be interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea.

The France international appears to be a man in demand during this transfer window, with four clubs reportedly in the running to secure his services. Plea is entering the final year of his current contract in Germany and could be available for a fee of €8million (£6.8m) this summer.

French media outlet RMC Sport report that Marseille and former club Nice are keen on Plea, along with two English clubs, naming Forest as one of them. They go on to say that "negotiations are ongoing with the four clubs".

Meanwhile, L'Equipe have identified Everton as potential suitors after selling Richarlison to Tottenham. That would seem to make the Toffees the other English side involved.

Plea has been at Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga since 2018, having joined from Nice, where he spent four years. He started his career at Lyon and also had a loan spell with Auxerre.

The forward - capped once by his country - has more than 300 senior appearances under his belt, and almost 100 goals. In Germany's top flight, he has scored 38 goals and provided 23 assists in 123 games, and also has Champions League experience.

Forest have been busy in the window so far following their promotion to the Premier League. They have already made 11 senior signings - most recently snapping up Jesse Lingard on a free transfer from Manchester United.
