Defender Neco Williams has thanked Nottingham Forest fans for their support in Wednesday night’s defeat to Manchester City.
The Reds were thumped 6-0 by the reigning Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium. But despite having little to cheer about on the pitch, the near-3,000 visiting fans who made the journey didn’t stop singing all night.
The away end came across loud and clear throughout the game. It was a superb show of support on a tough night for Steve Cooper’s side.

And Williams has since posted a message on Instagram, with a picture of himself in action. Alongside a raised hands emoji, he wrote: “Your support doesn’t go unnoticed Reds.”
Boss Cooper also praised those who travelled. He said: “For how difficult last night was, I was just so proud to be part of the club. The supporters were amazing. We’ve never been more connected here - the supporters, the players and the staff.”
Forest fell behind to a first half hat-trick from Erling Haaland. Julian Alvarez hit a brace after the break, with Joao Cancelo also on the scoresheet.
After five games of the season, the Reds have four points and sit in 15th spot. They will be aiming to take advantage of the electric City Ground atmosphere on Saturday, when fellow promoted side Bournemouth are the visitors.
