Nottingham set for 17C as county expected to be hotter than Greek island next week

Nottingham is set to be hotter than some of the Greek islands next week as forecasters predict above average temperatures. With the Easter holidays now drawing to a close, forecasters at BBC Weather are predicting sunny spells in Nottingham through much of next week, particularly on Friday (April 21).

Friday is set to bring the highest temperature of the week at 18C, with very little chance of rain and bright weather expected throughout the day. That means next week's highest temperature in Nottingham is set to be bigger than the same prediction for the Greek island of Skiathos.

BBC Weather is forecasting a high of 17C in Skiathos next week, which is due to be recorded on the Monday and Tuesday. In its general outlook for the UK next week, the Met Office says: "Patchy cloud on Monday, mainly in the west and north, with the odd light shower and drizzle possible.

"However, most places most likely will remain dry with some bright and sunny spells. Stronger winds predicted in the far northwest, but light winds elsewhere.

"Further into the week a ridge of high pressure will likely develop resulting in fine and dry conditions for many, with sunny spells, especially to the lee of high ground. Cloudier skies in the northwest, with dampness possible.

"These settled conditions are expected to continue later in the period, with frequent dry weather for most, perhaps with the odd shower. The chance of showers increasing later, especially in the southwest. Temperatures generally above average throughout the period, and locally very warm in the sunshine at times."
