Nottingham city centre road closed after car crashed into lamppost

A busy Nottingham road was forced to close earlier this evening (December 15) after a car collided with a lamppost. Police were called to the crash, in Castle Boulevard, at around 5.40pm, with the road closed westbound at its junction with Castle Bridge Road.

Police confirmed two people were inside the vehicle and have been treated for their injuries, which are not currently thought to be life threatening. Emergency services set up a diversion eastbound on Castle Bridge Road, while drivers travelling westbound had their journeys delayed while the incident was dealt with.

The lane reopened at around 7.30pm.
