Notre Dame to Film ‘Hard Knocks’-Type Documentary for Peacock

Notre Dame and NBC’s Peacock streaming service are planning to produce a season-long documentary on the Irish football program, athletic director Jack Swarbrick confirmed to reporters on Wednesday,

The series is going to be in a similar vein to HBO’s popular NFL program Hard Knocks and will debut in 2024.

The announcement about the upcoming docuseries for Notre Dame football on Peacock comes on the heels of NBC’s new deal to retain the broadcast rights for Fighting Irish home games through the 2029 season. Sports Illustrated‘s Pat Forde was first to report that the docuseries was part of the new media rights deal between Notre Dame and NBC.

NBC has been the exclusive home for Notre Dame football since 1990, as the network just wrapped up its 33rd season broadcasting the program’s home games.

Notre Dame’s new media rights deal with NBC includes a docuseries following the team.

For the last few years, at least one home game per season has been broadcast exclusively on Peacock. That is expected to continue with the extended TV deal between the two sides. Notre Dame remains the only school to partner with a major streamer for content.

With the new television deal comes new opportunities for the school and network, which includes the docuseries set for next season. There are no details yet on when it will premiere, but Notre Dame fans should keep an eye out for an announcement soon.
