The task of resurrecting this celebrated building came with a hefty price tag, with estimates indicating a cost of 700 million euros ($737 million).
Heading the efforts for the restoration was Rebuilding Notre Dame de Paris, a public body led by Philippe Jost. The organization was entrusted with the monumental task of overseeing the reconstruction process.
To fund this ambitious project, a remarkable 846 million euros ($891 million) was raised through the generous contributions of 340,000 donors from 150 countries around the globe. This outpouring of support highlighted the cathedral's significance not only to the people of Paris but also to individuals worldwide.
Philippe Jost emphasized that any surplus funds from the donations would be utilized to further enhance the cathedral in various ways, ensuring that the legacy of Notre Dame continues to thrive for generations to come.
