A serial shoplifter assaulted a shop worker after flouting a ban from Crown Point Shopping Park.
Benjamin Wallbank was caught in Currys PC World just six days after being released from prison for shoplifting.
The 32-year-old was subject to a criminal behaviour order banning him from Leeds city centre and surrounding areas.
Leeds Crown Court heard he was banned from Crown Point Shopping Park and he was well known to staff in Currys PC World.
Prosecutor Richard Holland said a member of staff spotted the defendant in the store on January 20 this year.
Mr Holland said Wallbank was stopped as he left the premises but Wallbank became 'belligerent' and pushed the member of staff in the chest.
Police were called and he was restrained until officers arrived.
Two Samsung memory cards and a pair of headphones were found in his bag.
Wallbank continued to be aggressive when he was put in the back of a police van and told he was being arrested for breaching his criminal behaviour order.
In his police interview, he said the memory cards belonged to him and he had not intended to steal the headphones.
Wallbank, of Congress Mount, Armley, Leeds, pleaded guilty to assault and breaching a criminal behaviour order.
He has 38 previous convictions for 98 offences, mainly for dishonesty offences.
It was the ninth time he had breached the order since it was imposed in April 2018.
Jane Cooper, mitigating, said Wallbank was desperate for money after being released from prison, adding: "He found himself in a not uncommon situation. He had no benefits and nowhere to live."
She said her client has had an issue with crack cocaine and more recently turned to diazepam to self-medicate.
Wallbank was jailed for nine months.
