Notorious Edinburgh gangs named city's 'most dangerous' in twisted Tiktok video

Edinburgh's most dangerous gangs have been named in a chilling TikTok video.

Through the years, gang culture among a section of the city’s youth has shifted from causing terror on the streets to boasting about their territory on social media.

Edinburgh Scheme is one account that often posts content about the city's gangs and their apparent antics, yesterday sharing their take on the city's most dangerous gangs.

The video is captioned: "Edinburgh's most dangerous gangs" and features terrifying snaps of a police car in flames, individuals riding dirt bikes through a scheme and forensics in white overalls carrying evidence from a crime scene.

First on the list is probably one of the most well known gangs in the city, the Young Niddrie Terrors.

Some of the city's most high-profile criminals graduated from the ranks of the city's street gangs, including the infamous George Buchanan.

A member of Young Niddrie Terror since his teens, he was convicted in 1974 of the attempted murder of a rival and again in 1987 for his involvement in the theft of heroin from the MacFarlan Smith factory in Gorgie.

The YNT are closely followed by the Young Clerry Jungle, that represent the boys from Clermiston and supposedly dominated the area in the 60's.

Next featured in the most dangerous list is another big one - the YLT - Young Leith Team.

Their tags are still seen around Leith today and the area has a reputation for being rough.

More deprived areas, such as Pilton, Muirhouse and Oxgangs, are particularly popular places to draw youngsters in.

Young Pilton Derry takes the next spot, followed by MCF - the Muirhouse Gang.

The final gang on the list is young Mental Oxgangs also known as the YMO with their base in the south-west of the city.

The online video was viewed over 30,000 times and had hundreds of likes with many doubting if Edinburgh even has a gang culture.

One user joked: "Edinburgh doesn’t have gangs, just a bunch of school kids running about the streets."

Another said: "No gang in Edinburgh is dangerous."
