Greenock Morton has issued a strongly worded statement condemning an alleged attack on a young person by a small group of individuals following their Scottish Championship match against Partick Thistle at Firhill on Saturday.
The Inverclyde club, who have already addressed concerns over the use of pyrotechnics at the fixture, has expressed "disgust" at reports of the incident and the subsequent footage that's believed to be circulating online.
They are now urging genuine supporters to assist in identifying those responsible.
“To make it abundantly clear, these people are not true Greenock Morton supporters in respect of the way they conduct themselves and the acts which they have taken part in," a Morton spokesperson said.
"We express nothing but disgust at what has been brought to our attention, and we hope that true Greenock Morton supporters will assist us in identifying these individuals so that the appropriate action can be taken at the earliest opportunity, including police involvement."

Morton also extended their sympathies to the young victim, vowing to reach out and offer support to ensure his wellbeing and continued enjoyment of football is not affected by the traumatic experience.
The club reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to violence and pyrotechnic use, stating: "As a community-owned football club, we should take pride in being passionate, supportive, and together without it leading to violence and physical abuse. We do not believe that the incident outlined above is representative of what our supporters stand for."
With safety at football matches a growing concern across Scotland, Morton stressed that all fans should feel secure at stadiums and on their way home, without fear of violence.
And they have vowed to take decisive action and continue working with authorities to uphold a safe and respectful matchday environment.
Police Scotland are aware of the incident.
