'Not the vibe': Haggis features on ‘foods from countries that no longer exist’ list

SCOTS have criticised a food vlogger after he made a classic Scottish dish as part of an online video series featuring "foods from countries that no longer exist".

Popular YouTube and social media chef Big Nibbles (@bignibblescooks) was flooded with comments after he posted a video making haggis, neeps, and tatties.

Big Nibbles has previously created meals from Hawaii and Catalonia as part of the series, and went on to post a video of a traditional Welsh cawl recipe.

In the video about Scotland, he stated: "Imagine if you will, England and Scotland, pair of incompatible student housemates who have been living together since 843 AD.

"And for the next few centuries, it's the typical conflicting housemate problems like battles, invasions, and the occasional murdered king.

"But after a while, England with its big stack of mum and daddy's money, starts to go on big nights out, plundering and colonising other countries.

"Scotland gets jealous and spends his entire student loan trying to do the same, fails, and immediately becomes destitute."

He continued: "England comes knocking with a big bag of money, and an Act of Union rental agreement and Scotland signs the lease, loses independence, and joins the United Kingdom, becoming a very resentful tenant who is still trying to move out centuries later.

"But at least they have haggis, neeps, and tatties."

Viewers were not happy, with one person writing: "Son, you are playing with fire."

Another wrote, "You, sir, are in the right profession, stirring the pot," and one person added: "I'm in Scotland. I can hear them preparing for battle".

One Scot commented: "This was hard for me to watch considering I'm Scottish and I watch this guys videos daily."

Another said: "Scotsman here. Independence can't come soon enough."

One former SNP MP got in on the action, with Anum Qaisar commenting: "I’ve enjoyed watching your different series, but this is not a vibe at all".

One person branded the video "rage bait".
