'Not an accident': murder charge after fatal 4WD crash

Police say a Prado was used to run down a woman in a targeted attack. (HANDOUT/TOYOTA)

A woman has been charged with murder after another woman was hit and killed by a 4WD in a case police believe was no simple accident.

The 23-year-old victim was walking home along the footpath after dropping her daughter at daycare when she was hit by the 4WD at Daisy Hill, south of Brisbane on Friday morning.

She died in hospital that night.

"We will allege that that event was not in fact an accident, and the young lady who has tragically lost her life, was in fact targeted," Detective Inspector Chris Knight told reporters on Sunday.

A 24-year-old woman will face Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday charged with murder.

Police seized a damaged silver Toyota Prado from her home at Goodna, west of Brisbane on Saturday, while the woman was arrested a few suburbs away at Yamanto.

"At this stage, we don't believe there was another person in that car, and of course, we are continuing to explore that," Det Insp Knight said.

He described the incident as far from typical but declined to comment on any relationship between the pair, with investigations ongoing and a woman soon to face court.

Asked if it was a case of domestic violence, Det Insp Knight said: "It is not as simple as that."

Police believed the victim was targeted, saying the 4WD was in the area for an extended period of time before the crash.

"For that reason we don't believe that it was an unfortunate, random traffic accident," Det Insp Knight said.

Police have appealed for dashcam footage from any vehicles in the Allamanda Dr area from about 5am until about 10am on Friday.

A specific appeal has also been made for the driver, owner or passengers on a white, unbranded bus seen in the vicinity shortly before 9am to come forward.
