The team behind hit restaurants Le Bab and the Kebab Queen is to open a traditional British pub next year.
The Dark Horse will launch in Camden stable block in January and has been described as a “no-nonsense music pub”.
On the way are craft beers, an “extensive” list of spirits, a “quality” wine list and classic cocktails.
The food menu has been created by Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet and the pair said the focus is on “unpretentious, old school pub food”. Dishes will include fish and chips, lamb hot pot, pies, sausage and mash, prawn cocktail and rarebit crumpets.
“There won’t be a burrata in sight,” Tozer said.
In the mornings, the Dark Horse will serve a classic cooked breakfast, and on Sundays, roasts will shine a light on rare breed meats from the UK such as Hereford beef and Hampshire pork.
The Dark Horse, the press release said, will reflect Tozer and Brunet’s favourite pubs from home, in Oxfordshire and Lancashire.
There will also be music nights and an events program, tapping into Camden’s history of creativity. The pub is opening in partnership with the music collective Tape London, and big names will perform alongside “the next big thing”, said Tozer and Brunet.
As for the interiors, the Victorian site will feature exposed brick, cast iron, and lots of art.
“The Dark Horse is an ode to London,” Tozer said. “It’s an unpretentious boozer bringing together beautiful Victorian architecture, one of the world’s most exciting, diverse music scenes, great English food and cold cold beer”.
