Chelsea responded to further uncertainty off the pitch with a win after seeing off a late Norwich fight-back in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel’s side arrived at Carrow Road having been thrown into disarray by the news that Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government, but took the lead inside three minutes against the Premier League’s bottom side.
Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring as he met Mason Mount’s corner from the left at the near post, before Mount doubled Chelsea’s lead on 12 minutes with a fine shot into the top corner. Norwich were much improved in the second half and were handed a lifeline when a cross hit Chalobah’s arm and a penalty was awarded by referee Martin Atkinson following a VAR review.
Teemu Pukki converted the penalty to give Norwich some late hope - but Kai Havertz sealed the win late on with an excellent finish into the top left corner, as Chelsea consolidated their grasp on third place in the Premier League table despite the uncertainty off the pitch.
