Støre expressed concerns over the potential escalation of the conflicts, warning against Israel's possible ground invasion of Lebanon, which he described as a major escalation that should be prevented. He also welcomed the United States' efforts to de-escalate tensions between Israel and Hezbollah but stressed that the key parties involved must take responsibility for finding a solution.
In addition to criticizing Israel's actions, Støre highlighted the importance of Iran playing a role in de-escalating the situation. He mentioned that world leaders have engaged with Iran's new president to emphasize the need for Iran to contribute to reducing tensions in the region.
Støre's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was also reiterated, with him emphasizing the necessity of a two-state solution for lasting peace in the Middle East. He noted that Norway formally recognized Palestinian statehood in May, a move that aligns with his belief in the importance of a Palestinian state.
