Rothbury Fire Station said: "Over the past two days the Rothbury crew were called out to work alongside colleagues from Bellingham, Hexham, Allendale, Pegswood, Alnwick and Haltwhistle as well as specialist wildfire officers from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service to firstly tackle a large fell fire at Tarset near Bellingham and another on the moor above Rothbury at Debdon earlier today."
"We faced difficult conditions due to the tinder dry fells, lack of access for vehicles and very limited access to water. All crews worked closely for several hours on different flanks to extinguish the fire and protect the surrounding forestry land."
