The team behind Northumberland newest Michelin star restaurant have launched a new dining experience and guest bar at the restaurant overlooking Hadrian's Wall country.
Restaurant Pine at East Wallhouses became the county's second Michelin star eatery in February 2022, just under nine months after opening. And now the team behind it hope that they can offer an "intimate" dining experience with their new Chef's Table.
It holds up to three guests, who when seated will be able to speak to members of the team as they prepare, plate and serve their dishes to them. The menu follows the same format as the main restaurant, which uses locally sourced and foraged ingredients to make dishes such as Sugar Kelp Dumpling, Mushrooms From Under the Tyne Bridge, and Chicory Root Tart with Japanese Knotweed and Charred Meringue, to name a few.

The table has been created by local artisans and is made of reclaimed windfall English walnut sourced from woodland less than 50 miles from the restaurant. It has even been finished and sealed using Pine's own colony of native British black bees, linking to Pine's sustainable ethos.
A new bar area, available exclusively to diners, has also been added and will open an hour before restaurant service with head barman Bobby Morrison creating a range of cocktails and mocktails also using locally sourced and foraged ingredients such as the Elderberry 75 and Evergreen Sour. The bar is set around a wood burning stove, with Scandi style sofas, locally made soft furnishings, wool fleeces from surrounding farms, and specially commissioned photographs depicting scenes and landmarks from the countryside surrounding the restaurant.
Chef patron Cal Byerley and co-owner, said: "We’re so excited that we’ve been able to open our Chef’s Table and guest bar. Our Chef’s Table has been designed to be informal, we wanted it to feel like you were sitting down in a friend's kitchen, where you could chat with the team, have the opportunity to find out a bit more about what we do and why we do it, and have the chance to enjoy a glass of wine or two during your meal."
Front of House Manager Siân Buchan added: "Our bar space has a similar informal vibe, a cosy home from home kind of space. It’s essentially a space where you can sit and unwind either before or after dinner. A space that gives you the time to savour the entire experience of dining with us from start to finish, but one with the added benefit of having a Michelin-starred restaurant team looking after you."
Pine's Chef's Table is available for up to a maximum of three guests dining in the evening from 7pm Wednesday to Saturday and is also available for guests joining for lunch on Saturdays from 12pm. It costs £145 per person, more information can be found on the Restaurant Pine website.
