A 10k run in aid of a local hospice is to return to popular beauty spot on the Northumberland coast on Sunday May 28.
The DB10K is firmly established in the annual sporting calendar, with many competitors returning each year to not only challenge themselves, but to raise money for HospiceCare North Northumberland. Over the years, it has attracted all levels from park runners to Olympians.
This year's race will start on the beach, while a 2.5km route around the lake at Druridge Bay Country Park constitutes the junior run, for which there are still several spaces left. And neither is a race - organisers also welcome walkers, saying: "We know that encouraging healthy life choices and outdoor activity are important so we would love for you all to join us again this year", and everyone who takes part receiving a medal.

The hospice, which is based in Alnwick, offers palliative care to terminally ill patients in their home and though some funding is received from the NHS, the charity relies on public donations and fundraising to carry out its work.
Emma Arthur from HospiceCare North Northumberland said: "We receive a small amount of funding from the NHS the rest we have to find from donations, legacies, trust, our charity shops and fundraising. This is why your support attending events is so important in helping us continue to provide these essential services. Join our event, receive a medal for taking part and know that you have supported local families."
As well as hosting the Druridge Bay 10k, HospiceCare North Northumberland is bringing back its Open Garden Season, where gardens that are usually not accessible to the public are opened for a day or weekend. The Handlebards cycling Shakespearean actors are also returning to the North East to do their first show solely in aid of HospiceCare with a picnic in August.
Places for the Druridge Bay 10k are open until 8am on Friday May 26, and the race takes place on Sunday May 28 at 10.30 with an entry cost of £21. The Junior Run starts at 9.30am and entry costs £6.50.
