A Northumberland bed and breakfast has been named the best guest accommodation of the year in England.
Market Cross Guest House in Belford, north Northumberland, has already been named at number 25 on TripAdvisor's Best of the Best list in June. However, it has now scooped an even bigger prize after being crowned the best guest accommodation in England for 2023 by AA Rated Trips, while it also made it onto their list of the friendliest B&Bs in the UK.
Owned and run by husband and wife Steve and Amanda White, it also adds to their North East Tourism Gold award. However, this latest award came as a complete surprise, as they are judged blind - and they have no idea who assessed them or when they did it.

The AA Inspector's View said: "Expect the highest quality of accommodation at Market Cross Guest House. You'll find beautiful, well-appointed rooms with large screen TVs, Nespresso machines, White Company toiletries and so much more.
"Excellent locally sourced ingredients as well as homemade bread and preserves are just part of our breakfast. There's also a large garden in which to enjoy the evening sun.
"Food quality is important and is why as much as possible is homemade. From the bread, jams and marmalades to granola, and muesli, it's all made in house."
Situated in a former Georgian coaching inn in the the village of Belford and offering access to both Northumberland's beloved coastline and stunning countryside, Market Cross has been almost fully booked for the last two summers and that trend looks to continue this year.
Amanda White, co-owner of Market Cross Guest House believes that winning the award is a recognition of hers and Steve's passion and commitment. She said: "Being judged by the industry to be the best at what we do is a huge honour."
Steve White continued: "The fact that we've won three big awards in the last four months is absolutely amazing. We had the North East England Tourism Awards, then the Best of the Best from TripAdvisor, and now this.
