NT Health has today reported the deaths of another three people with COVID-19.

The deaths include two men and a woman in their 80s, all from the Greater Darwin region, according to a statement issued this morning.

One of the men and the woman died at Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH), while the other man died at Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH).

The statement said all three people had "underlying health conditions", but did not provide the dates when each of the people died.

NT Health has since reported that the RDH deaths occurred on April 22 and the PRH death happened on April 24, with the NT Chief Health Officer verifying all three as related to COVID-19 this morning.

It is the equal highest number of deaths to be announced in a single day in the territory.

There have now been 43 COVID-related deaths in the Northern Territory since the start of the pandemic.

NT Health also said there were currently 50 people with COVID-19 in hospital.

Four require oxygen and two are in ICU.

The NT recorded 564 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours up to 8pm yesterday, with 468 of those recorded from rapid antigen tests (RATs).

Of those, there were 356 cases in the Top End, 92 in Central Australia, 12 in East Arnhem, 28 in Big Rivers and 10 in the Barkly, while 66 are still under investigation.

The latest case total represents a slight increase on the number reported on Wednesday, when the territory recorded 538 new cases.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the NT currently stands at 3,005.

Epidemiologist warns of rising case numbers as restrictions ease.
