Northern Territory police have located boy, 12, missing from Alice Springs

Police have thanked the community for their concern. (ABC: Hamish Harty)

Police have located a 12-year-old boy who had been missing for two days in Alice Springs.

The boy was initially reported missing after he was last seen at the Yeperenye shopping centre on Bath Street on Monday August 15.

NT Police said family members had searched the immediate area but were unable to find the boy, who had had no known contact with family or friends since that time.

However, on Wednesday about 6pm, police issued a statement confirming the boy had been found.

"Northern Territory Police would like to thank the community for their concern and assistance," police said in a statement.
