Northern Rail just launched a huge 10p flash sale - with trains going from Manchester to locations across the North and North West of England

With the news that rail fares are set to increase by 2.8% next year still fresh in people's minds, Northern Rail has just come up with the perfect remedy - a 10p flash sale.

The sale started today (August 19), and is offering 80,000 reduced price tickets, which are valid on journeys taken between 1-30 September.

There are several 10p tickets for adults (or 5p for children) on offer, but it's important to note that this is the minimum price in the sale, so not all trains will be quite as cheap.

The rail company is offering 10p tickets to plenty of locations in the UK from Manchester (Northern)

10p tickets are available from Manchester Piccadilly to the following locations:

  • Arnside

So if you're planning a trip to the Lake District, a weekend in Blackpool or fancy a day out in York, now's the perfect time to get your trains booked.

In a statement about the sale, Northern's Managing Director, David Brown, said: "We had an exciting start to the summer with the launch of our first brand new trains. And we continued the great news for customers with the first Pacer retiring.

“Now, with better trains already on the network, we want to celebrate the end of summer with an offer that gives thousands of people outstanding value travel.”

He added: "Tickets for 10p (5p for children) are available when booked in advance through the Northern website or app . No discount codes are needed, simply search for a journey and, if it’on one of our Advance Purchase routes, you’ll be able to get the reduced rate."

There are a limited number available at the reduced rate, and they're sold on a first come-first served basis.

The offer is only available on purchases made online and via the app. Ticket machines and ticket vending offices are not participating in the sale.
