THE NORTHERN LIGHTS are to dance over much of Scotland tonight, according to the latest Space Weather forecast from the Met Office.
The national meteorological organisation said that due to a coronal mass injection (a significant ejection of plasma mass by the Sun), parts of Scotland would be able to see the spectacle.

According to the Met Office, views of the Northern Lights will be limited to parts of Northern Scotland and (similar geomagnetic latitudes).
Weather conditions will also greatly affect sightings with cloudy skies over much of the country this week greatly impacting views.

When will the Northern Lights be visible over parts of Scotland tonight?
The weather organisation states that due to "enhanced geomagnetic activity," there is a "continuing chance" that the Northern Lights will be visible tonight (Wednesday, March 5).
The Northern Lights are best seen after sunset, with areas with little-to-no light pollution offering the best views.
