Tickets are now on sale - and apparently in high demand - for the new Northern Lights light trail which will be making its debut in Newcastle over the festive season.
The trail, which will open for a five-week run from November 23, is promising to create a magical 90-minute family experience in Leazes Park where the illuminations will be accompanied by music and choreographed displays as well as vintage fairground rides and a Christmas village with street food and drink stalls. The initial announcement about Northern Lights had already sparked huge excitement with more than 30,000 people said to have taken the chance to sign up for early bird tickets for the festive treat despite it being the height of summer.
The light show - which will involve local talents as well as Ithaca Studios, the company behind headline installations for the likes of Kew Gardens, Netflix and Glastonbury - will see producers From the Field work in collaboration with Urban Green Newcastle which cares for all the city's park and green spaces. Leazes Park will celebrate its 150-year anniversary, as the city's first public park, this December too and Urban Green's enterprise director Marian Chapman has called Northern Lights a spectacular way to to celebrate such a treasured attraction.

In all, organisers expect Northern Lights to attract up to 130,000 visitors over its run.
The trail will start and finish at the southern entrance to the park, via Barrack Road, and there will be plenty for all ages to explore - and enjoy, including festive treats such as mulled wine, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Opening times during the run will be 4.30pm-8.15pm until November 30 then the event will get under way 15 minutes earlier from December 1.
