Northern Irish vape company removes Elf Bar products over nicotine strength concerns

A Northern Irish vape company has said that it will be removing Elf Bar products from its product range with immediate effect due to concerns over the strength of nicotine in them.

VaporLinQ, a brand owned by the Northern Ireland-based Superior E-Liquid vape company, has said that it is removing the products following an investigation which found that the Elf Bar contained nicotine levels more than 50% higher than the legal limit of 2ml, or 2% strength.

Managing Director of VaporLinQ Stephen Ryan confirmed the decision by VaporLinQ. He said: “We are disappointed with news today with regards to compliance issues with other vape providers in the industry.

"We purchase third party products on the basis they are manufactured in line with our own high standards, and this is clearly not the case with Elf Bar products at this moment. Ensuring the safety of customers remains an utmost priority for our company, and we will continue championing our vape products as the best alternative to smoking.”

Elf Bar has said that it "inadvertently" broke the law and has apologised to customers.

VaporLinQ has said that its manufactured Puff Bar products are fully compliant and that all e-cigarette manufacturers have a responsibility to comply.

Mr Ryan concluded: “VaporLinQ, alongside all other e-cigarette manufacturers, has a responsibility to remain fully TPD compliant, and we will not sell any products which fall outside of these standards until we have received appropriate guarantees in relation to the quality of the products.”
