The new yellow warnings take effect just two days after a previous warning for heavy rain led to flooding in parts of Northern Ireland on Halloween.

Regarding Wednesday's warning for rain, the Met Office said: "Heavy rain may cause travel disruption and, in a few places, flooding."

Giving further details of what can be expected regarding high winds, the weather forecaster said: "A spell of very strong southerly or southwesterly winds will affect some coastal areas during Wednesday.

"Gusts of 55-65 mph are expected, especially in exposed coastal locations, with some sudden strong gusts of wind possible at times."

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely while bus and train services may also be affected, the Met Office added.

It's also likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts, and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
