The Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning for Boxing Day.
The weather warning was issued at 9am on Christmas Day and covers almost the entire area of Northern Ireland. Only a small patch of the North Coast appears to be in line to be spared the icy weather, according to a Met Office graphic.
At this stage the warning applies from midnight on Christmas night to around 10am on St Stephen’s Day.
In a brief statement, the weather watchers stated that there is a “Yellow warning of ice affecting Northern Ireland”.
They said the “ice may cause some delays and difficulties at first on Monday”.
The Met Office says people should be careful as the cold weather may cause “some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces”.
They added that there will “probably be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths”.
The rest of the day appears to be set for a mixture of sunny spealls, light rain and temperatures remaining in the low single digits.
