Northern Ireland weather forecast for the week ahead shows dry and sunny spells

The new working week is set to bring some good news on the weather front.

There's lots of dry weather in the forecast for Northern Ireland over the coming days along with increasing amounts of sunshine.

Temperatures are set to hit the high teens in some western spots too.

But it's not good news for those who suffer from hayfever as the Met Office has warned of a high pollen count for the start of next week.

From Monday, the pollen count will change from medium to high, for April 17 and April 18. After that, it will drop to a medium alert again.

Here's what to expect over the next few days, according to the Met Office.

Monday:

Cloudy along the east coast at first with any mist or fog soon clearing, otherwise sunny spells with the odd shower. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy at first Tuesday and again at times overnight Tuesday and Wednesday otherwise dry with sunny periods.

UK long range weather forecast - Thursday 20 April - Saturday 29 April

Most places staying settled and dry with sunny spells, the best of these to the north and west. Becoming cloudier through Thursday and into the weekend, with an increasing chance of showers, most likely towards the south.

Most areas feeling reasonable in shelter and sunshine, though southern and eastern coasts are likely to feel cooler in fresh easterly winds.

High pressure is likely to remain centred to the north or northeast of the UK through late-April, leading to a fair amount of fine and dry weather persisting, although the chance of showers, mainly in the south, remains.

Temperatures are likely to remain rather warm towards the end of the month, especially in the west and northwest. Some eastern coasts may stay cooler, and perhaps locally chilly overnight in sheltered parts.
