Northern Ireland weather forecast for the week ahead

After a cold and frosty start for areas of Northern Ireland this morning the rest of Sunday looks promising.

A "dry and bright day with long spells of sunshine" is expected with a maximum temperature of 15C.

Tonight we will see "some clear spells across the east at first, otherwise a rather cloudy night with patchy, mainly light rain edging east through the early hours. Occasionally fresh southerly breeze. Minimum temperature 7C".

For tomorrow, the Met Office said: "A rather cloudy start with patchy light rain. However it soon becomes brighter from the west with sunny spells developing for the afternoon, along with a few showers. Winds easing. Maximum temperature 17C."

And what about Tuesday to Thursday?

The Met office forecasts "sunny spells and a few showers Tuesday. Cloudy with outbreaks of rain Wednesday morning then a dry bright afternoon. Bright start Thursday but occasionally heavy rain spreading east".
