Northern Ireland weather for St Patrick's week as more snow predicted

After a grim couple of days of weather last week, the days ahead aren't looking overly promising either.

The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for Northern Ireland on Monday March 13, and Tuesday March 14. Both alerts give for snow on ice across parts of the region.

And as we count down the days to St Patrick's Day celebrations on Friday, it might be best to hoke out a green umbrella!

Here's the weather forecast for the week ahead, according to the Met Office:

Monday, March 13

Rain continuing on Monday morning but turning lighter and winds swinging back round to the north, turning colder with a few sleet showers later. Maximum temperature 10C.

A yellow weather warning is in place from 5pm. Overnight snow showers are likely to lead to slippery and unsafe conditions on untreated roads, cycle paths and pavements.

Tuesday, March 14

Brisk northerly winds and a few wintery showers Tuesday, dry and bright further south. Yellow weather warning for snow and ice will remain in place until 11am.

Wednesday, March 15

Cloudy changing to light rain by lunchtime. Light rain expected from 12 noon until 5pm, changing to heavy rain by 6pm. Highs of 6C.

Thursday, March 16

Heavy rain changing to partly cloudy by nighttime. Rain will be intense from 6am, easing up slightly at 9am but continuing throughout the day until 6pm. Highs of 12C.

Friday, March 17

Overcast changing to light showers by early evening. It is forecast to be dry but cloudy until around 6pm, when it will change to a slight rainfall. Highs of 11C.
