Northern Ireland motocross kids gearing up for British Auto Cup in England

Six of the best young motocross riders from Northern Ireland are gearing up for the inaugural British Auto Cup.

The 50cc Auto class is for kids aged between six and nine who will compete on automatic single speed petrol powered bikes.

The event will be held at Warmington Lane, Middlewich, on August 13-14 and will see some of the UK's top young riders go for glory.

Six regions throughout the UK have been running four qualifying rounds, with the top six riders in each region being invited to compete based on their overall score in their respective area.

For the Northern Ireland zone, rounds one to four of the MRA Ulster Championship hosted the qualifiers and at the conclusion of Round 4 - held on the July 13 at Seaforde, Co. Down - the riders have subsequently been selected.

Andrew Anderson, Cole McAuley, Bradley Thompson, Jack Quinn, Joshua Foster and Evan Oliver will form the Northern Ireland team.

Two other riders who originally qualified have both had to withdraw from the travelling squad.

Caleb Duffy has picked up an injury while Mason Shields cannot make the event due to personal circumstances.

Anderson (8) hails from Moneymore whose biggest achievement to date is finishing 10th at the MX Masters. McAuley is 8 and hails from Larne and has previously earned overall wins at Duns, Doune and Claudy.

Thompson is just 7 and comes from Antrim, while Quinn is also 7 and hails from Coalisland.
