North Tyneside councillors are expected to approve council tax rises, here's how much you could pay

Council tax rises are on the cards for North Tyneside residents as the borough's budget is expected to be approved next week.

North Tyneside Council’s Cabinet previously agreed its budget proposal following a consultation with residents, businesses and communities across the borough.

The council faces a budget shortfall of £7.9m over the next financial year – a figure which rises to £27.6m over the next four years.

The council plans to increase council tax bills by 2.99%, which includes a 1% precept to pay for adult social care services.

The rise will put an extra £3m in the council coffers, but isn't the only costs householders will be paying.

Precepts for the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service are also collected by local authorities and added on to council tax bills.

Here, we will take the figures from the budget report set to be heard at a North Tyneside full council meeting next week, to see how much the borough's residents could be paying in financial year 2022/23.
