Residents can make a claim to North Tyneside Council if they believe their cars were damaged by potholes on Blyth Road.
Motorists and locals had alerted the local authority about potholes and flooded areas on the road from Whitley Bay caravan park to The Delaval Arms public house. Work has subsequently begun to repair the road.
Many residents took to a local Facebook group to voice their frustration and claims of damages to their cars.

One resident wrote: "We went over it this afternoon and there was a pothole about six inches deep hidden under the water. We’re okay but this evening there was a broken down car right after it and two more in the lay by next to it."
One resident claimed: "We just went through it in the dark. Stayed in the centre of the road to avoid the flood but now have two punctures and probably worse damage to the wheels."
Several motorists resorted to using different routes, like the locally known Beehive road, to avoid Blyth Road, also known as the A193.
Nick Preston, head of highways at North Tyneside Council, said: "Our highways team have identified potholes on Blyth Road, which were hidden underneath standing water. The potholes have since been barriered off and the surface water drained, with temporary traffic lights installed until repair works are complete.
"It is expected that repair works will be complete by the close of play on Monday 9 January. We apologise for any disruption these works may cause.
"We are aware of complaints from members of the public regarding damage to vehicles caused by these potholes. Anyone who wishes to submit a claim to the council can request an insurance claim form by emailing claims@northtyneside.gov.uk or visiting https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/page/7694/insurance-claims."
The council's claim form does clarify "completion of this form does not imply an acceptance of liability on the part of North Tyneside Council".
