North Somerset MP Liam Fox has withdrawn his support for the Prime Minister as pressure mounts for Boris Johnson to quit. Mr Fox has become the latest MP to call for the PM to go, after the resignations of Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak last night prompted a slew of ministers and aids to leave the Government.
And Mr Fox has also asked Mr Johnson to leave office following his handling of the Chris Pincher scandal. In a letter to the PM posted on Twitter, the MP wrote that he had supported every PM since he was elected in 1992, including Mr Johnson.
But he wrote: "The events of recent days, however, have convinced me that unfortunately, you cannot continue to lead the Conservative Party and more importantly our country."

He added: "We have lost too many good people from the Government who could not reconcile their loyalty to you with their conscience. I share their feelings.
"Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I am today withdrawing my support for you as I no longer have any confidence in you as our leader. I urge you to do the right thing and resign."
According to the BBC, Mr Fox is due to approach the Prime Minister today to call for his resignation in person. And a delegation of MPs led by Michael Gove is reportedly going to ask for him to quit today, according to Darren Jones, MP for North West Bristol.
