North Shields DJ Schak creates 'electric' atmosphere after playing single outside St James' Park

A North East DJ created a party atmosphere after playing his new single outside of St James' Park.

Shakeil Luciano, known as Schak, has been signed by DJ Patrick Topping's label Trick. The 30-year-old, from North Shields, North Tyneside, released his first song Moving All Around (Jumpin') [feat. Kim English] last month.

The toon fan has been creating videos to promote the tune, which has been played on BBC Radio 1 and in clubs across the country. In his most recent video, Schak played near the St James' Park Metro station, following Newcastle's United 's win against Chelsea.

The footage drew the attention of one of the club's co-owners Mehrdad Ghodoussi. He shared Schak's video on Twitter and joked: "Can't believe I missed this an invite would be appreciated next time #NUFC"

Schak said: "I was absolutely buzzing, I couldn't believe it. This is the thing about our owners - they interact with the fans. We're like one big collective, there's no divide. That's why we love them so much.

"It was a big game, it was the last game we were going to have before the World Cup. I had a feeling we were going to beat Chelsea. It couldn't have went any better.

"There's construction works near to The Strawberry so I needed to pick a location that was safe and nobody got hurt. I picked the bottom of the Metro as everyone has to walk past it. It was the perfect place to do it.

"It started off with there being about 25 to 30 people and there ended up being 300 people. It was like lightening in a bottle, it's truly magical.

"I thought at some point the police were going to stop it but they didn't. They just let me get on with it. I could have kept playing if I wanted to. At the end of the day everyone was having a great time."

Schak has previously promoted the release of his debut single by spinning the decks on public transport and inside a local DIY store. His videos show people raving to the track while on a double decker bus, the Metro, the Shields Ferry and inside a showroom kitchen at B&Q in North Shields.

In one video, released on Halloween, Schak rides along North Shields Fish Quay on a mobility scooter, with fireworks flying from the back, while dressed as Mario.

Schak previously told Chronicle Live that, before he got his big break, he was on Universal Credit and working 10 hours a day on his music. He said he feels incredibly lucky that he can now work as a DJ full-time.

He said: "That was one of the best moments of my life - seeing all these people with so much glee and love on their faces.

"I think people who have heard the single knew what was going on. The atmosphere was electric. Everyone was singing football chants together. I deliberately played Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! by ABBA as there's a Alexander Isak version of the song."

Schak now plans to inform the club's owners the next time he plays for NUFC fans so they can come along. He added: "I'm saving the next one for something special!"
