A DJ who promoted his debut single by spinning decks on public transport and inside a local DIY store has now released an official music video.
Shakeil Luciano, known as Schak, released his first song Moving All Around (Jumpin') [feat. Kim English] last year after being signed by DJ Patrick Topping's label Trick.
The 30-year-old, from North Shields, North Tyneside, has now released an official video for the tune, which has been played on BBC Radio 1 and in clubs across the country.
The video features Schak as well as members of the local community, a number of whom are proudly dressed in Newcastle United shirts.
Schak stars as the Pied Piper of the rave, riding a monster party-truck through Newcastle. It shows people from all backgrounds coming together to follow the party-on-wheels through the streets as they leave their responsibilities behind and freedom takes over.
Schak said: "This record really means a lot to me, not only because it’s my debut release but also because I feel it properly represents the sound of the North East.
"All cast members are from the North East and that alone is something that feels really special. I’m so proud of where I’m from and the community that we’ve managed to build so it was important for me to try and portray that in this video."
Schak has already built a loyal following in the North East through his Nanna Makina character. He previously combined DJ and mobility scooter skills while dressed up as an elderly woman. The character fascinated Japanese media and featured on BBC’s Have I Got New For You.
Schak previously hit the headlines after creating short videos to promote Moving All Around. They showed people raving to the track while on a double decker bus, the Metro and the Shields Ferry. He also captured footage of people raving to the tune outside of St James' Park and inside a showroom kitchen at B&Q in North Shields.
In another video, which was released at Halloween, Schak rides along North Shields Fish Quay on a mobility scooter, with fireworks flying from the back, while dressed as Mario.
Moving All Around (Jumpin’) ft. Kim English hit no.1 on the Soundcloud Chart and Spotify Viral Top 50. It also entered the Official UK Chart, scored the B List on BBC Radio 1 whilst amassing over 10M collective streams and counting.
Schak played TRICK’s Liverpool show alongside Patrick Topping and Denis Sulta whilst continuing his own run of shows throughout December and the start of this year. He's set to play at venues including Mint Warehouse, The Liquid Room and SWG3.
The official video has been directed by Jack Willoughby and produced by Michael Newton at Greatcoat Films.
