North Lanarkshire Council’s first-ever employer engagement event has been hailed a success.
It took place last Thursday in the Motherwell Concert Hall and more than 300 people came along.
Derek Brown, NLC deputy chief executive, said: “Our Developing the Young Workforce/Employer Engagement Event is a key part of our strategy to work closely with employers to help shape the future of employment in North Lanarkshire.
“The feedback we’ve had from everyone who attended has been incredibly positive.”
The event brought together school leaders, employers, young people, and key partners to build stronger working relationships.
In just a few days since the event, the conference’s success can be measured in a total of 216 commitments to provide opportunities from employers directly to young people in our schools.
Employers have offered schools: 53 work related learning opportunities, 35 apprenticeships/internships, 22 training opportunities for staff and young people, 11 enterprise and industry challenges, and 17 will support young people with barriers to their learning.
